If you're chasing a Blessed Hammer setup in Diablo 4, Herald's Morningstar is the sort of drop that makes you stop and actually read the tooltip. Plenty of D4 items can push your damage up a bit, sure, but this one changes the rhythm of the build. You're not just swinging a better mace. You're setting up those messy, golden, screen-filling moments where hammers start spinning everywhere and packs vanish before you've even finished repositioning.
Why Herald's Morningstar feels different
The base stats are useful without being flashy. Extra Strength helps your damage, and more Maximum Life is never wasted when you're playing close enough to smell the demons. The real reason people care, though, is the Blessed Hammer support. Extra ranks mean the skill scales harder, and the double damage chance gives each hammer a bit of bite. Then the Unique power steps in. With Lucky Hits, your hammers can create additional base hammers, which is where the weapon starts feeling less like a stat stick and more like the engine of the whole build.
Where players usually farm it
You can technically find Herald's Morningstar from regular drops, chests, elites, and the usual endgame loot sources. That doesn't mean it's smart to rely on random luck. Most players who seriously want it head straight into boss farming. Echo of Duriel and Echo of Andariel are the names that come up again and again, mostly because their loot pools are worth the time. Duriel, in particular, has always had that reputation for being generous with strong Unique drops. If your character is tough enough, Harbinger of Hatred is another route, though it's not where I'd start on a shaky build.
Don't waste your boss materials
Boss rotations are where this grind gets a lot less painful. Instead of burning your own summoning materials for one kill at a time, you group up and rotate turns. More attempts, less waste, better odds. It's not glamorous, but it works. Movement speed matters too. People talk about damage nonstop, but shaving time off the run to the boss adds up over a long session. If you're spending half the evening jogging through corridors, you're leaving chances on the table. Bring a build that clears quickly, doesn't fall over, and can reset without a five-minute break after every fight.
Check the rolls before you celebrate
When it finally drops, don't equip it blindly just because the name is orange. A weak Herald's Morningstar can feel worse than a well-tempered Legendary if the rolls don't support what your build needs. Look at the Blessed Hammer ranks, the double damage value, and whether the rest of your gear is ready to feed the same idea. Some players would rather farm longer or even buy cheap D4 items to round out missing pieces, but the weapon still needs the right setup around it. Once the synergy clicks, though, the build gets that wild hammer-spam feel people keep chasing.
